Description

The ISC Reflex is a revolutionary mechanical friction brake for climbing. It allows for mid-line attachment and precise friction control, simplifying climbing and rope techniques.

REFLEX Mechanical Friction Brake: Revolutionary Climbing Technology

The REFLEX Mechanical Friction Brake is a mid-line attachable device! Gone are the days of having to thread the entire length of your rope through your device, either before or during your climb!

The REFLEX is designed to offer precise friction control with a gradual release of friction. It combines the familiar feel of a rope lowering device with the versatility of a mid-line attachable mechanical device.

The REFLEX body is equipped with a safety locking swing gate and L-shaped links. This means the rope can be inserted into the body and then wrapped spirally around and into (rather than threaded through) each link. The top link is fitted with a latch that securely retains the rope in the links during use.

Benefits of Mid-line Attachment

Being able to attach the device mid-rope is advantageous as climbers do not need to pull the full length of rope through to install/remove the rope at the beginning of, or at any point during, the climb. This is especially useful when using ropes with bulky end tags, which would otherwise need to be cut off, thereby removing rope identity/traceability information.

Mid-line attachment is also a "game-changer" when it comes to offering more options for branch passing and switching systems up in the canopy!

Whether used in MRT (Moving Rope Technique) or SRT (Stationary Rope Technique) systems, the links on the REFLEX allow for consistent friction control, with no need for additional friction devices. This means that the REFLEX can be used for SRT without the need for a Wrench & Tether! This is perfect for climbers who want to keep their system simple and compact and allows for easy payout of slack.

For those who prefer to use the REFLEX with an additional APEX and FLEX Tether, the REFLEX has attachment points that allow for versatile configuration options, as well as quick and easy transitions between different setups.

The 200 kg rated rescue load allows climbers to carry out rescues without the need to incorporate additional friction. If desired, an APEX & FLEX Tether can be added to offer additional friction for even easier control.

Other Features

  • CE Certified to EN 12841, on EN 1891-A ø11-13 mm ropes.
  • The links on the REFLEX adjust to provide consistent friction throughout the rope range, without the need to adjust settings.
  • Detachable & Replaceable Swivel: The swivel eye can be removed from the device by a sequence of deliberate actions. This allows for quick detachment without having to dismantle your climbing system or bridge setup. Perfect for lunch breaks or when you need to quickly retrieve more gear from your vehicle. The detachable swivel also provides more options for limb walking and means the swivel eye can be easily replaced when worn.
  • The swivel eye is shaped to accommodate two carabiners. Alternatively, up to two bridge ropes can be directly threaded through the eye to achieve a compact system.
  • The REFLEX offers self-tending and low-friction ascent, with multiple choice of tow positions.
