Description

The Svedbro Smide Stalpen is a robust and dependable tree felling lever made in Sweden. With gear reduction, it delivers controlled and safe felling of awkward trees.

Tree felling lever from Svedbro Smide. Made in Sweden. More 'premium' than the Pusher, as it does not have a cable but a gear wheel for the reduction.

The Stalpen is a mechanical tree felling lever that can push trees in the desired direction or act as a prop, even when the tree's natural fall direction is different. The Stalpen ensures safe tree felling even with very awkward trees. The Stalpen is made in one size with a max thrust of 2600 kg.

The Stalpen consists of a crank and a gearbox with a gear wheel, which drives an extension with a rack. The crank can be turned forwards to increase the thrust, or backwards to reduce it. The Stalpen has a unique freewheel that lets you crank forwards and backwards under full load without the user having to push up a "locking device". This prevents "kickback" even if the crank is released.

The choice of materials and the quality workmanship on the Stalpen are of the utmost importance, as we know that safety in forestry work is the highest priority. The Stalpen is engineered to withstand large forces such as resisting overhang, gusts of wind and incorrect tree leans. The mechanism in the Stalpen is very reliable as it consists only of a gear wheel and a rack. We do not use cables, nylon straps or other variants for the drive. All to minimise the risk of tangling and material wear.

The Stalpen does not replace a winch or other special machines for difficult and high-risk work. Judgement and professional experience are always important in felling.

The Stalpen tree felling lever has been manufactured by Svedbro Smide since 1972, and over the years we have sold thousands of Stalpen units around the world. We are delighted that felling levers we made in the 1970s are still in service.
