Description
Description
The CMC Clutch is a versatile rope clamp developed for rescue, rope access and arborist work. It combines several functions in a single device, saving time, equipment and weight.
More is possible
The CMC Clutch is the latest evolution in rescue and rope access equipment. It is developed in collaboration between CMC, with roots in rescue and rope access, and Harken Industrial, experts in high-performance sailing technology. With a combined experience of 90 years in rope control under heavy loads, the Clutch offers optimal efficiency, simplicity and control for arborists, rescue personnel and rope access technicians.
The Clutch works seamlessly between anchor systems and personal use, replacing traditional equipment with its versatility. It handles hauling, controlled lowering, smooth personal descent, easy climbing, belaying and Twin Tension Rope Systems.
Features
- Single device for efficient hauling, controlled lowering, smooth personal descent, easy ascent, belaying and Twin Tension Rope Systems.
- Up to 38% higher efficiency during hauling and ascent compared to cam-based devices – reducing the need for changeovers.
- Seamless transition between anchor systems and personal use, replacing several pieces of equipment.
- Combines functions from load control devices and personal descent devices – reducing training and costs.
- Immediate transition between hauling/lowering or ascent/descent without transferring the load.
- Enables twin tensioning of main and belay ropes in mirrored or nested configurations (Double Clutch technology).
- Replaces 8 traditional components: pulley, rescue rail, anchor plate, load-release strap, prusik cord and 3 carabiners.
- The 11 mm Clutch together with the CMC G11 Lifeline builds NFPA G-rated systems with 11 mm rope – saving space and weight.
- Patented design, made in the USA.
Components
- Stainless steel sheave with ratchet and rotation function for efficient and audible auto-locking during progression.
- Innovative double-gated side plate for safe rope loading/unloading, independent of the attachment point.
- Anti-Panic brake and force limitation for operational safety and overload protection.
- Milled aluminium chassis with stainless steel wear protection for low weight and high durability.
- Integrated becket for direct connection of mechanical advantage components.
- Control handle with a large "sweet spot" for smooth, progressive control during lowering and descent.
- Included screw for the side plate creates closed rope systems for quick deployment.
