Description

Ultra Vee climbing rope from Teufelberger is a premium rope for professional tree care, also known as Braided Safety Blue. This 16-strand rope is certified according to EN 1891A and ANSI Z133-2012, with a unique blue polyamide safety core that clearly indicates when the rope's sheath is damaged and it's time to replace the rope.[1][5]

Construction and Materials

Ultra Vee has a core of parallel twisted blue nylon (polyamide) yarns that keeps the rope round and stable under load. The sheath consists of a 16-strand braid of tightly twisted polyester over polyolefin, treated with a protective coating that minimizes wear, improves durability, and provides optimal grip. The rope is easy to splice and is available with a tight eye splice.[1][5]

The 12.7 mm diameter provides a comfortable handle that reduces fatigue and increases efficiency when working in trees.[1]

Features

  • Unique "blue" safety core that warns of damage
  • Tightly twisted polyester for increased wear resistance
  • Protective coating for longer lifespan and better grip
  • Easy splicing
  • Low elongation: 3%
  • High roundness under load
  • Good dielectric properties (resistance to electrical current, but be careful when working near power lines)

Technical Specifications

  • Diameter: 12.7 mm (1/2 inch)
  • Weight per 100 feet: 7.1 lbs
  • Weight per meter: 105.6 g
  • Elongation: 3%
  • Minimum Breaking Strength (MBS): 5,800 lbs (25.8 kN)
  • MBS spliced: 5,400 lbs (24 kN)
  • Tensile Strength: 7,000 lbs
  • Certifications: EN 1891A, ANSI Z133-2012
  • Material: Polyamide core, polyester/polyolefin sheath

Note: Working Load Limit (WLL) is calculated individually based on usage, safety factor (typically 15 for lifelines), and risk assessment. Regularly check for wear.
